THE KNIGHT’S boys state & girls STATE EXPERIENCE
Bob Knight attended The Florida American Legion Boys State in 1974, and is a The American Legion Boys Nation Alumni. Bob has also been a counselor at FALBS for over 49 years, and continues to help the program. Gail Knight attended The American Legion Auxiliary department of Ohio Girls State back in 1977 prior to her journey as a West Point cadet (read more here.)
Bob & Gail also offer a $500 scholarship known as the “Bob & Gail Knight Scholarship” to the runner up winner of the Samsung Scholarship using the same criteria required by the Samsung Scholarship.
FALBS Marketing & Communications
Bob Knight created several promotional videos with Christopher Shipe to raise awareness, funding, and recruitment for The Florida American Legion Boys State. Bob also helped kickstart FALBS‘ media and communications committee (a group of volunteers dedicated to marketing and promoting FALBS to the public) in 2023.
The Florida History Show AT boys state
Bob made the “School of Florida History” with the help of Rhett Coleman, a curriculum for all Florida Boys Staters. This course is widely available and is now known as “The Florida History Show.”
